Tourism
One of the ways in which Project Gateway aims to achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency is through Tourism. Being based in the city's old prison, recently declared a national monument, Project Gateway encourages visitors to learn about South Africa’s past. With lottery funding, the National Monument building has been refurbished as a 'state of the art' interactive museum which, along with tours of the historic site, now generates revenue for Gateway.
